If you are looking for a job that has diversity, lots of excitement, global opportunities and constant learning the VFX industry is just the place for you.

Here are some pointers when planning a VFX career:

  1.  VFX is a team sport so it is OK to go slow to begin with. Don’t be in a hurry to impress everyone with an array of skills to show that you are a valuable resource. The can never be a compromise on the foundation of decent modelling, animation, texturing, lighting or compositing skills.
  2. Be a self learner. Keep yourself abreast of technological changes at every step. Be self-motivated, and don’t expect hand holding. Internet forums, magazines, blogs are best places to know the latest trends.

  3. Be dependable. Like any industry, deadlines are always lurking on your back and everything is always urgent. Keep things simple.

  4. Leave your EGO. It’s better to take criticism as requests for change. Do not take it personally and as an insult on your capabilities.

  5. Be inquisitive. VFX field is at a constant flux and full of creative people. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or opinions.

VFX jobs are available in plenty. But like any other job, commitment, hard work, positive attitude and honesty are the bedrock of achieving success.
